Children at King David Primary School use the internet on a regular basis as part of their learning. At King David we understand that technology enhances learning, and collectively ensure that pupils benefit from this by encouraging responsible online behaviour.

In school, we use a strictly monitored filtering system across all of our technologies which includes computers, laptops, iPods & iPads. This prevents children from accessing or being exposed to inappropriate websites or content. We also have regular 'e-safety' activities and create physical displays throughout the school to remind children and show them the importance of remaining safe online. At home children can be given unsupervised access to the Internet. This could potentially allow them access to all content(both good and bad) and bring them virtually into their homes.

The BBC have a website and app called Own It. The website has a lot of content for children to help them navigate their online lives, and the free smartphone app comes with a special keyboard which can intervene with help and support in the moments that children need it the most.

SafeToNet is technology that educates children “in-the-moment” as they use their device. It is a safeguarding assistant that helps them become responsible and safe digital citizens.
