Thanks for a great half term Reception!
Spring Term 2022
We have had a great half term exploring the theme of winter.
The children have been exploring and learning about the Arctic and the Antarctic polar regions. They have been comparing life in a very cold place to where we live in Liverpool. We have enjoyed looking at maps and using Google Earth to explore the planet. We have also enjoyed learning about different Arctic and Antarctic animals. We are now penguin experts, we are particularly good at recognising different species of penguins. We know some penguins like to live in cold places but some like to live in warm places, plus we know some live in Chester Zoo too!
The children have created some wonderful artwork over the half term and have really enjoyed creating their very own igloo for their home learning project. This has been a great opportunity for the children to build on their communication and language skills.
We have explored snowflakes and how they are formed plus we have looked at the artist Simon Beck. The children have enjoyed listening to a variety of winter themed stories but have particularly enjoyed the story of Jack Frost.
Our curiosity about snow and ice inspired us to create our very own frozen experiments. The children made predictions about whether things would change or not change when they had been frozen, it really got their brains thinking about the properties of different objects.
We finished the half term with a fabulous Frozen Party! A well deserved celebration of all our hard work!! Well done reception for another great half term!

Spring 2 2022
Another great half term learning all about different traditional fairy tales. Our first adventure was with the Three Little Pigs. We had fun making houses using different materials and writing letters to the wolf. We then visited The Three Billy Goats Gruff and the angry Troll! We had so much fun building bridges and finding out about different bridges around the UK. Finally we met the very naughty Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Goldilocks caused chaos in class, playing tricks on us and moving all of our coats!
